Jackie Wilson: Fitness, Focus & Passion Dr. Seku Gathers

Good People,

Today I had the pleasure of interviewing Jackie Wilson, a fitness guru and the founder of Nova Fitness Studio in New York. Jackie is also an attorney who once represented pro-sports players from the NBA and NFL. Now, he works as a fitness coach and utilizes Electrical Muscle Stimulation to optimize the way you train to elevate the standards of your fittest self.

Jackie’s truth revolves around the importance of acknowledging to yourself what your true passion is, and no matter what point you’re at in pursuing something else, choosing the make the transition is one of the best decisions you can make. For Jackie specifically, he pursued a career in law, but his heart wasn’t in it. Fitness is where his true talents lie, and in this episode, Jackie shares how he made that transition.

Throughout our conversation, we also talk about racism in America, and how sometimes that’s different for recognizable celebrities or people with notoriety. He also explains what EMS is, how it helps you achieve your fitness goals, and why “fitness” may not truly be for everyone.

Some Questions I Ask:

  • How would you recommend someone with a passion for personal training to start? (12:44)
  • Why is fitness important? (15:53)

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • How fitness boosts your mental health and immune system. (16:01)
  • The 2 major lessons that Jackie teaches his sons. (24:37)
  • Why personal training is NOT for everyone. (32:26)
  • Why focus is more important than gratitude. (34:48)
  • Why education is so essential for personal trainers. (37:10)
